Drug Rehab Relapse Going Back to Drug Rehabilitation

If you doubt whether rehab is a necessary step, consider erring on the side of caution. You may be someone who sees recovery as a straight line, with complete healing being the end goal. If so, it would be understandable to feel discouraged after a relapse. Rehab is possible after relapse, and there are a few reasons you should consider returning to treatment.

  • If you have a support system at home, determine the rules at your chosen facility regarding contact and visits from friends and family.
  • Relapse doesn’t mean the treatment program didn’t work — it  simply means the treatment plan needs reinforcement or adjustment.
  • Rather, there are several things you can do to prepare for rehab—including everything from managing employment and financial obligations to packing appropriately and seeking support from friends and family.
  • For recovering drug addicts, rates are between 40 and 60 percent.

Some states are building protection systems around vital bridges. Last year, officials from a joint New Jersey and Delaware bridge authority announced work on eight 80-foot-wide stone-filled cylinders designed to protect the Delaware Memorial Bridge. The existing protection for the bridge tower piers dates to 1951.

In 2017, he joined with Imperial College London buddies Ahmed and Siddiqui to found Quit Genius, an app to curb tobacco cravings, and raised a $2 million seed round the following year. In March 2020, they raised $11 million in a Series A round to expand into treating opioid and alcohol use. Being self-sufficient and independent can seem like the American way.

Whether or not you should return to treatment will depend on the severity of your lapse and the circumstances surrounding it. If the relapse consisted of a few hours or a few days, you might be able to veer back to your recovery path somewhat seamlessly. If you went on a two-week-long bender, another round of treatment might be in order. Like every addiction story is different, so is every path to recovery.

It is important to mention that one of the main reasons that a person ends up having to return to a rehab center is because they didn’t stay in treatment long enough the first time. The best way to tell if going back to rehab after a relapse is necessary is to look at how serious the relapse was and consider the likeliness that a person will use drugs or alcohol again.
